Last Friday the girls and I journeyed up to NY to see my family. We got there in time for a 4th of July BBQ - and no NY BBQ is complete without spiedis!! (a specialty in my hometown) The girls tried out sparklers for the first time and loved it.
We also celebrated Eva's birthday.
We did lots of fun stuff while we were there! One night we went out for ice cream with Uncle Nate and Leah and rode on a merry-go-round! We also got to see Nate's new cigar shop - here's his website if you're interested!

On Tuesday I traveled home by myself (the girls stayed with Nana!) and had a rare two days at home without them! I love them both very very much, but that was a real treat!
On Thursday Andy and I traveled up to Mt. Joy, PA to spend an evening at a bed and breakfast for our 9th anniversary! Here we are all dressed up!

From there we traveled back up to NY to pick up the girls, then on to Houghton College for our 10 year reunion!!! It was a little surreal to have our two kids with us. This is the place where we met, became best friends, then enemies (I'll tell that story another day), and then fell in love. This is where we grew into the people we are today and made some of the best friendships we'll ever have. This is where we dug deeply into our faith and put down roots. I love this place!!!

Oh Katie - thank you for posting these Houghton pictures! I am so sad I wasn't able to make it - we actually drove through western NY late on Saturday and thought we should just be crazy and drive down to houghton to see everyone, but after 2 weeks on the road we were anxious to get home. But now I see the pictures and wish I had just gone....You all look so beautiful! :)
