Elmo Birthday #3

Yes, Jonas' birthday was two months ago. What can I say? He's a third child! And....if you are really observant....you'll notice he has two different shirts on. That's because Mommy ruined the party by throwing up as soon as the presents were opened. And so we didn't actually eat the Elmo cake until two days later.

Elmo has traditionally been the birthday cake at all two year old birthday parties. Both the girls, their cousins, my friends' kids - it's like a rule or something. After spending the weekend coooking, baking, and streamer hanging, we were ready for our family to arrive. One problem - I felt miserable. Let me rephrase that.

Seconds after walking in the door and hanging up their coats, I ushered everyone into the family room to open presents. I may miss the dinner and the cake, but I will not miss my son opening his Buzz Lightyear ride-on car!!!

But really, I barely held it together. He tore the paper from the last present, and I was dashing upstairs. After emptying the contents of my stomach, I climbed into bed and slept through my son's party.

Yes, I felt sorry for myself. I still feel sorry for myself. That was the last Elmo party I will ever have the chance to celebrate. My only consolation is that he will not remember that Mommy wasn't there. And my family was kind enough to save the cake cutting and eating until a day when I could actually stomach the cake.

So....Happy 2 Year Birthday Jonas!
