V-Day!

I love Valentine's Day! I've heard so many people complain how it's "just another commercialized holiday to make you spend money." Well, yes it is, but so is Christmas, Easter, and the 4th of July. I'd rather think that a holiday is what you make of it. I love coming up with ways to make it special. I can remember as a little girl coming down to breakfast - the table would be set and at my plate sat a little red heart-shaped box, full of candy. It was special b/c my mom made it special.

Last year I started a tradition of having monkey bread for breakfast and what a wonderful aroma to wake up to! I made cards for the girls to color and bought them some little candies. And Daddy surprised them each with a card and a stuffed animal. So thoughtful of him!

Later that day the girls and I went to Polar Palace. We were the only ones there and we all had a blast climbing, crawling, and sliding!

This year it was my turn to make dinner! I had so much fun planning it. If you didn't already know, cooking is a passion of mine and I love trying out new recipes. After we got the girls to bed I got busy in the kitchen! So our menu this year was: coconut shrimp, cherry brie tossed salad, pan seared scallops and pesto pasta, parmesan asparagus, and chocolate rum truffles for dessert. And all for under $25!
